Position Description

Under immediate supervision, participates in providing professional nursing care and consultation services to County residents, public health clinics and various outreach sites of the Oakland County Health Division.  Assists in providing health programs emphasizing disease prevention, early detection, and referrals for care needed.  Assists in conducting epidemiological investigations of communicable diseases, such as tuberculosis and venereal disease; providing immunizations; providing counseling and teaching regarding nutrition, maternal and child health, family planning, Medicaid screening, and other services.  Participates in consultant and rehabilitation programs for the chronically ill; and participates in other health care services as required by County residents through public health clinics, County area schools, nursery schools, day care centers, places of business, individual homes and community centers.  Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments. 
 

Minimum Qualifications

At the time of application, applicants must:

1.  Be licensed by the Michigan Board of Nursing to practice as a registered professional nurse in the State of Michigan.
 
2.  Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license.  Out of Country driver's license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver's license before the hire date.
 
3.  Pass the complete examination, including interview and employment medical established for the classification.
 
4.  Successfully complete the six (6) month probationary period.
 
NOTE: Applicants who are not licensed by the State of Michigan and who meet the other requirements listed above may take this examination but will not be eligible for appointment until they have been licensed by or possess a valid permit from the Michigan Board of Nursing.
